PIERRE ALECHINSKY (b. 1927)

Belgian artist, Pierre Alechinsky worked mainly in France in an array of mediums, including painting, printmaking, drawing, and filmmaking. He joined the Jeune Peinture Belge in 1947 and two years later, joined the Cobra group. In 1952, he left the group to move to Paris and study under S.W. Hayter. He also traveled extensively across Europe, the Far East, the United States, and Mexico. His paintings and prints are done in an abstract manner and are reminiscent of the work of Ensor.
