American Modernism · California Modernism Mid-Century · Pre & Post War San Diego Artists   My primary interests lie in the various 'Modern' movements of the early to mid twentieth century.   Emphasis is placed on early American abstraction ( the American Abstract Artists , Transcendental Painting Group, Museum of Non-Objective Painting, the 'Park Avenue Cubists', etc.), American Cubism, Surrealism, and other related styles, particularly works created by artists working in California.   San Diego has a rich artistic heritage and while many of the area's more traditional landscape painters are now justly celebrated and documented, there are as many progressive artists who are still underserved by local art history.
